ROOT AND POTATO DIGGERS.
Blair Engineering bought
over the manufacturing rights and supply of spares for the Ransomes
range of potato lifting equipment when Ransomes left the Agricultural
Equipment market. Most popular amongst this range is the Root
Crop and Potato Diggers.
These machines will dig potatoes, carrots, bulbs and onions etc.
from the ground, clean and separate them from soil and trash
in the heaviest of crops in all soil conditions. They employ
a two stage elevating and discharge system using separate traces.
Traces are supplied with alternate up and down rods to provide
pockets for crops to be elevated with minimum roll back. Machines
are fitted as standard with one set of agitators to give 57 mm
throw on the main elevator and on the rear conveyor. If more
agitation is required up to two more sets of agitators may be
fitted in place of existing rollers and larger agitators giving
107 mm throw are available. Plain or rubber covered rod links
are available on both traces and alternative share blades are
available to suit the crop. Depth is controlled by adjustable
depth wheels incorporating discs for weed and haulm control.
The PTO drive is protected by a safety clutch on main digger
shaft.
The crop is deposited in tidy rows for easy hand picking with
maximum soil separation and minimum damage.
